Tradition with a Taste of the Sea

Founded by Francisco Javier and Sebastiana, Restaurante El Roqueo opened its doors on the Conil coastline in the summer of 1977.

A place to enjoy the fine cuisine of Sebastiana Mendoza Alba, known as “Chani” to those who knew her — an exceptional cook who mastered the secret of a great rice dish and recipes that remain deeply rooted in the menu today, such as Monkfish Stew with Clams.

Top-quality ingredients, professional service, welcoming interior design, and a privileged setting. Four pillars that have made Restaurante El Roqueo a benchmark for those who appreciate authentic market cuisine, based on fresh, locally sourced products: fish from the bay, almadraba tuna, meats from La Janda, and seasonal vegetables.

A gastronomic legacy that remains alive and renewed today under the direction of chef José Sánchez Pérez, who blends Andalusian tradition with touches of modernity and creativity.

Over the years, dedication and hard work have shaped El Roqueo de Conil into a family-run project that brings together Restaurante El Roqueo, Restaurante El Mirador, and a variety of charming accommodations located in Conil de la Frontera, Playa del Roqueo, and the Conil countryside.

Today, the four children of the founding couple, with Javier as manager, together with a professional team with years of experience, continue to preserve the essence that has always defined El Roqueo: offering quality, warmth, and hospitality, so that every guest feels at home facing the Atlantic.
